~Message from Shimano Seiko regarding the exhibition~

Five years have passed since my first submission and first selection in 2015, and last fall in 2019, I was selected for the fifth consecutive year at the Salon d'Automne in Paris without missing a single time. This time, I will be holding a series of solo exhibitions at this venue for three artists with ties to Paris. When this project was decided and I met the other two artists, I wondered, "What is my Paris? What is it?"

The words that came to mind at that time were, "It all began in Paris." Looking back, it was Paris that first led me to enter the world of fine art.

Coincidentally, it is early spring. Spring is the season of beginnings. So my theme is "the time of beginnings."

Like me, when you think back on it, that moment may have been the beginning. It may have been the moment you decided to start. It may have been the time to prepare before starting. There may also have been a short turn of thought during your daily life that marked the beginning. I believe that each of us has had many beginnings in our lives. When was your first moment?

This exhibition features a collection of works (photos, two-dimensional works, glass works) inspired by spring flowers, including a work selected for the 2019 Paris exhibition, which uses cherry blossoms as a motif befitting the arrival of spring. We hope you will enjoy your stay.

We are looking forward to seeing you there. With gratitude.

This year's event will be held on a Saturday for the first time, so if you're coming home from work, why not come and relax, or if you've just enjoyed a fun holiday, why not end it by enjoying the changing seasons with some wine and sushi?
