Merlot 2020

The grape growers are a married couple who moved here from Yokohama. They aged the crisp Merlot from Azumino for a year. It has a deep red color, is rounded, and has little acidity. It is powerful, but also has a fruity flavor.

■Tasting notes: The first notes are a calm fruity aroma of black berries and dark cherries, followed by spicy nuances of cloves and anise, and the aroma of green grass. The alcohol comes on gradually later, and this is an easy-to-drink red wine that starts off with a refreshing fruity flavor. It goes well with Japanese dishes that use dashi stock, as well as meat dishes with strong sauces. It is a Japanese red wine with a gentle taste that can be paired with a wide range of meals without being pretentious.
