Let's support Heidi Winery, which was affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake!
Many people were affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on January 1st of the new year. We hope that people can get their lives back on track as quickly as possible.
Heidi Winery has a close relationship with Yokohama Winery.
The winery was established in 2011 and is located on a hill overlooking the sea in Monzen Town on the Noto Peninsula, but suffered extensive damage in the recent earthquake.

Wine from the sea, brewed from the natural environment of the peninsula and the passion of the makers
By accepting nature as it is while adding just the right amount of human intervention, we are able to bring out the unique characteristics of "grapes grown near the sea." This is our commitment in making wine.
~From Heidi Winery's website
As the magnitude of the earthquake and the damage were becoming clearer day by day, I kept in contact with the company's president, Mr. Takasaku. At first, I was relieved to hear that everyone involved was safe, but the extent of the damage became clear.
It is said that brewing this year may be impossible. The restaurant attached to the vineyard is not even open. The soil in the vineyard is cracked and needs work to heal. It will be some time before the water supply is restored, and it is unclear whether the agricultural chemicals and fertilizers necessary for cultivation will be able to be sprayed.
The Takasaku family, who founded the company, and their employees have either evacuated to other prefectures or are continuing to live in evacuation centres or secondary evacuation centres.
Why support Heidi Winery ?
There are three reasons.
1. Founding Connection
When Yokohama Winery opened, we received a lot of help from Heidi Winery in Noto Monzenmachi. It is no exaggeration to say that it was only because of our encounter with Heidi Winery that I, someone with no prior experience, was able to create this winery.
2. Yokohama connection
Heidi Winery's CEO, Takasaku-san, is a Yokohama native. After living in Yokohama for many years, he moved with his family to Noto, his father's hometown, 13 years ago and founded the winery.
3. Edge of the Sea
The Noto Sea stretches out in front of Heidi Winery. It is a fellow winery that is close to the sea, along with Yokohama Winery, which is also located next to the sea.
As a fellow winery owner, I feel heartbroken when I hear that a winery cannot make wine. After discussing the situation with the winery staff, they discussed closing down the business, but decided to continue.
I don't want them to lose to the disaster! I don't want the grapes that we've grown so far and the winery to come to an end. What can I do?
I'm sure you've all seen the devastation in the news. This disaster will not be resolved immediately and we won't be able to return to our normal lives. Long-term support is needed.
Currently, the business has almost come to a halt. Fortunately, the wine in storage was not completely destroyed, and although there are some scratches, the contents are still in a condition to be sold. If you are in a situation where you are unable to do so while trying to rebuild your life, we would appreciate it if you could support sales. I thought I could do it too.
After consulting with Takasaku, he said that logistics may start in February, but the wine will be delivered to an acquaintance in Kanazawa and shipped from there. He would like everyone who has a connection with Yokohama Winery, including Hamako, to know about the current situation of Heidi Winery, and to support the winery by buying and drinking their products.
Please join us in supporting Heidi Winery with the spirit of a Hamako and a wine lover!
We will continue to hold various events to support the cause. We hope to continue this action together with everyone, where you can support the cause by drinking wine. Please join us in this action. And please spread the word to your friends.
