The grape growers are a married couple who moved from Yokohama. They aged Azumino's crisp Merlot for one year in French oak barrels and then another year in the bottle. It has a deep red color, a rounded body, and low acidity. While retaining the fruitiness, the vanilla aroma from the barrels brings out the Merlot's characteristics even more.

■Tasting notes: The first notes are a calm fruity aroma of black berries and dark cherries, with spicy nuances of cloves and anise, and a sweet vanilla aroma from the barrel. The alcohol comes on gradually later, making this an easy-to-drink red wine with a fruity flavor. It goes well with Japanese dishes using dashi, as well as meat dishes with rich sauces. It can be enjoyed with a wide range of meals without being pretentious.
